Frequently Asked Questions

  • Individual & trauma counseling are $150/ 55 minute session and $200/ 85 minute sessions.

    Couples/relationship counseling is $200/ 55 minute session and $225/ 85 minute session.

I also offer sessions at a reduced cost or “sliding scale” rate to support those who are unable to afford the full rate of services, particularly for those of marginalized or disenfranchised identities. Please inquire further if you are in need of a reduced rate.

  • Presence Pyschotherapy is not in network with any insurance providers at this time. If you have Out of Network Benefits, I can provide you with a superbill on a monthly basis, which you can provide to your insurance company in order to receive reimbursement for your sessions.

  • Insurance plans vary widely and are often confusing to navigate. If you believe you have out-of-network benefits and could get reimbursed for sessions, I recommend calling your plan directly and asking the following questions.

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health?

    • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • What is my out-of-network coinsurance once my deductible has been met (I.E. How much will I be reimbursed by insurance once my deductible is met)?

    • If the insurance company needs “CPT Codes” they are:

      • 90791 for the first session

      • 90837 for 60 minute individual sessions

      • 90847 for relationship counseling sessions

If you need support with this process or have questions about what any of this means, please reach out!

  • The first session for both individuals and partners is an opportunity for me to learn about you and your history, to understand why you are seeking therapy at this time, and to begin discussing your personal goals for treatment. This is done through conversation and building rapport… no check boxes or forms that I fill out as we speak. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and the client is in the driver’s seat, so you are welcome to share as much or as little about yourself, your experiences, and your relationship(s) as you feel comfortable.

Presence Pyschotherapy is a “trauma-informed practice,” which means that I aim to ensure my clients feel as safe and comfortable as possible when they are talking about distressing experiences, even if that means waiting a few weeks — or longer — until there is trust built between us to engage with more difficult topics.

  • It depends.

Some people come to therapy with a specific issue and they are seeking a solutions-oriented and skills-building approach to solving that issue. Those people may only be in therapy for a few months.

Many clients, however, realize that they want to explore how their current patterns are related to their past, and the process of diving deep can take a long time. Or, they come to find that they need and enjoy a dedicated space to work through what’s happening in their lives. This type of relationship may last years.

Ultimately, how long you stay in therapy is up to you, your goals, and your own sense of when it is “right” to move on.

We will have ongoing conversations about how the process is working, how you feel about your progress, whether you’d like to see any changes in our approach, and eventually, when it is time to say goodbye,

  • Yes! If you are located in the St. Louis area, we are able to meet in person at my ADA accessible office in Downtown Clayton.

For clients who are unable to meet in person, I offer HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions via Zoom.
